The ten most important things to know

1. You do not need to come to a U-Jive night with a partner. There will be enough dancers to ensure you are paired up and able to take part in the evening

2. If you miss a lesson, that's not a problem. The structure of the classes enables you to build up your portfolio of moves without relying on the ones taught the week before.

3. Though you may feel nervous to start, the more practise you put in during the freestyle periods the quicker you'll learn and in doing so gain in self-confidence.

4. The women can and do ask the men to dance as frequently as the men will ask the women.

5. When asking someone to dance, it is very rare to be refused. If this occurs this is usually due to the person taking time out between dances.

6. The teachers and crew are very approachable and will gladly run through the routine or a particular move you may require clarification on.

7. To progress to the Intermediate classes, it will normally take 6 - 8 Beginner lessons until you feel comfortable and confident to progress to this next step.

8. If you want to fast-track this stage, this can be achieved by means of our Beginner Workshop.

9. Drinks must be purchased from the Club's licensed bar or if tap water is desired this is provided for free.

10. The most important of the ten is that you have fun and enjoy yourself.
